One Love One Nation

TIME: 10:41 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses
November 4th will now be a new day that will stay in infamy. Either it'll be the day when we see the emergence of a new change from the role of our Commander-In-Chief or the indistinguishable nuisance of an economy on the verge of a downfall. However you decide to cast your ballot, just VOTE. It really can't be stressed enough and not to sound too dramatic but our lives do depend on it. The U.S.A. has more enemies and more flaws in the system than it ever has. It's not about race. It's not about money. It's not about who has the most widespread popularity. It's about who's right and who's wrong and who you truly feel is going to make the right decisions to lead this country. SO, for you all this is a public service announcement: Go vote November 4th!

As always,
STAY FLYY.

Model Spotlight: Ashle Danger

TIME: 7:52 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses

Recently I got a chance to chat with Ashle Danger. She's a 20 year-old aspiring model representing New Jersey. Check out the Q&A below.

Where are you from originally?
Maplewood, NJ

Never heard of it...how big is it?
Its a small town in the suburbs.

Gotcha. So why the name "Danger"?
Because guys called me a heartbreaker and a man-eater.

Are these accusations even remotely true?
They used to be. Now I'm just looking for the right guy. I played around long enough but I still like to have my fun.

So you held your player status for a while...
I won't say player I'll just say I was a multi-dater.

Interesting choice of words. What's outside the modeling world that sparks your interest?
Art. I was an art major. Graffiti, illustrations, graphics, you name it I've done it. Currently I'm learning how to dj.

Beauty on the 1's and 2's...you know you'll have the whole club scoping you.
I wanted to call myself DJ Wifey Type.

Sounds 90s-ish. Has it changed?
Everyone keeps telling me to stick with Ashle Danger or A Danger.

So do you plan on making modeling a career or a secondary venture?
A secondary venture because education is very important to me. I plan on continuing my goal to become a successful media publicist.

You can publicize for the Young & Established. I'll cut you some checks on the side.
I'll make you look like really good.

One thing we always see in the magazines are questions about what a lady's "type" is. Inquiring minds want to know...
A hustler. Not in the sense of drug dealing or extortion but a guy who is always on his grind, whether it be him working two jobs or just in school with a part time. He has to be focused, have goals, and be determined. I think determination is sexy.

Who do you favor musically?
My favorite artist?

Yeah.
That's a tough one. I love Cassie's swag, but Mariah Carey got it hands down.

Solid choices. What about the males?
Nas has my heart.

Oh really. I keep forgetting you're an East Coast chick. I'm from North Carolina myself. I got a few more questions for you.
Ok.

R. Kelly or Usher?
Usher. R. Kelly likes little girls.

Lil Wayne or Jay-Z?
Jay-Z. Plus he has Bey. Lil Wayne is kinda over rated.

Finish this sentence: "On November 4th, you should vote for..."
Obama.

One more question. What was your inspiration for wanting to model? Or is it even that deep?
To make the camera my boyfriend. I get jealous seeing other girls make love to him cause they can't do it right.

This is an ode to some of our finest sistas over 40 who are killing most of these girls in their 20s. We've watched them in the public eye and I don't know if it's the Maybelline but it seems that their showing no signs of aging especially Halle. I swear Stacey Dash could still pull off being in her 20s. Whether it be in music or the world of Hollywood, they've achieved superstar status in our dreams. Anyone you think should be added? Eminem > Best Rapper Alive (According to Vibe Anyway)

TIME: 5:14 AM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses

Lil' Wayne claimed it while Jay-Z was crowned by the streets. Well the E-streets have spoken and they have voted in Slim Shady as the best rapper alive. Vibe Magazine hosted an interactive NCAA-esque tournament that even came with its own bracket that you could mail in. The first round started in July and ended in August. So in the November issue (which hit newsstands last night), Vibe featured this as a main article. Weezy F. actually lost to Ludacis in the #3 seed while the Game beat out Andre 3000 on the other side. Hova and Em easily beat out Ludacris and Game respectively, setting up a titanic final matchup. In the end, Eminem prevailed in a landslide. After 920K+ votes and having NO album releases since 2004, he caught a big 69 percent of the votes easily moving past Jay-Z’s 31 percent.

Check out what Em had to say about the honor:
"It’s obviously an honor to have won the fans' support by being voted the Best Rapper Alive,” says Eminem in response to his victory. “I don't think that there is any one rapper that is simply the best though. Everyone who was in consideration and many others are the best at certain things, and at what they do. But since Vibe's offering the distinction, hell yeah I'll accept!"

Damn, almost a million people voted in this. They should do something like this more often. I'm happy with the win. I'm so tired of people siding with either Lil' Wayne or Jay-Z as if they were the only contenders for the crown. Personally I would voted in this order: #1. Eminem, #2. 3 Stacks, #3. Kanye West, #4. Lupe Fiasco, #5. Common.

~The Paradox of Love~

TIME: 3:38 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses

Perfection simply doesn't exist.
You can search the world to your heart's content
to find that one person with a union to coerce.
But who lives simply by for better or for worse?
How can we live by example instead of putting on the ruse
of two people becoming one yet still remaining two?
Opposites attract while infatuation insists
to seek self-gratification with all virtue dismissed.
This desire seems to confine us in a box
all for a four letter word that dwells inside a paradox.

- Just thought I'd share a little of my right hemisphere with you.

The FLYY Administration

TIME: 1:29 AM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses

So why the extra Y? Learn our history and you can understand why we feel we are FLYYer than you. It's not meant to be taken as a form of arrogance or hubris...oh no grasshopper. We don't hold any god-like complexes in the membrane. We're just in a whole other mindset. The motto/concept behind this is "Flyy Is A Way Of Life". This idea comes from the numerous immortals who built our city from Paul Laurence Dunbar to Roger Troutman to the Wright Brothers. We're from the "Birthplace of Aviation" so forgive us if we speak in those terms. Remember that Dayton is better than you. You are now in good company.

Coldplay x Jay-Z - Lost (Remix)

TIME: 6:44 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses

As the lead singer of one of the most successful bands in the world, Chris Martin of Coldplay has been doing a lot of collaborations in the hip hop world. For someone of his genre to work with artists in hip hop it usually takes a unique artist that can compliment well. He's done various hooks/verses for artists like Jay-Z and Kanye West and has even been sampled for production. With this latest track, he adds his newest addition to the Chris Martin x Hip Hop Connection and features none other than the big homie himself, Jay-Z.

I love how every time KRS drops knowledge it's always with the same background. Like he's doing these interviews in the same place (i.e. Hip Hop Honors ceremonies). But he is right. The Winner? "That One"

TIME: 2:20 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses
During Tuesday's town-hall style presidential debate, John McCain did something that reporters are only looking at as odd. While going on about a 2005 energy bill he made the following comment:

"You know who voted for it? You might never know. That one. You know who voted against it? Me."
Video.

While talking to an African-American voter in attendance, he forgot the man's name halfway through and just called him something else. Just went ahead and threw out another name. Afterwards the man even refused to shake Obama's hand. I believe McCain really has a problem. If Obama said something referring to McCain in a similar we'd never hear the end of it. I mean the man has a name. Senator Barack Obama not "that one". The reporters all seem to be afraid to mention the possibility that it had something to do with race. They just keep calling it "odd". If you ask me it sounded borderline racist. But that's just my opinion. The 60's are over McCain.

On another note I love how he flipped the script on McCain with his own words.

That cheerleading the president line was hilarious.

OBAMA '08.

Even though I liked it, the video proved to be just a little too abstract for me. Just a little. It's typical Kanye style though. Instead of using the internet, 106, or MTV as an outlet he chose Ellen DeGeneres to premiere his video which she deemed "brilliant". Not that that matters.

O.J. Did It!

TIME: 10:52 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses

In the public's mind, this is justice. Somebody finally got O.J. If the 61-year-old Pro Football Hall of Famer spends the rest of his life in jail — which is very possible — the majority of Americans will likely shed no tears. I haven't done any polling, but I think it's fair to say that these days, it is commonly believed that O.J. got away with murder.

That was not the case in 1995, when the verdict was announced. People forget this now, but when O.J. got off, the country was divided. On Oct. 3, 1995, O.J. Simpson was found not guilty. Within a week, one major poll found only 32 percent of whites agreed with the verdict while 85 percent of blacks did. Police officer Mark Fuhrman, the prosecution's star witness, seemed to be a racist with little credibility. The bloody glove did not fit. The nation was still stunned by the Rodney King verdict three years earlier.

President Bill Clinton said he was surprised by "the apparent differences of perception of the same set of facts based on the race of American citizens." The national conversation mostly centered on the racial divide. But look at that poll again: a third of white people thought he was innocent. What would that poll show today? Would even five percent of whites say they agreed with the verdict? His support among blacks has surely dropped, too. What happened? O.J. happened. He has been bitten by the very source of his support at the beginning, and the reason he could afford those lawyers and sway those jurors: his celebrity.

We kept watching O.J. He revealed himself to be who prosecutors said he was. These are not the actions of an innocent man. If the world thought you had killed two people, including your ex-spouse, and you hadn't done it ... well, come on. In a thousand years, you would never write a book about how you might have done it. O.J. Simpson is appealing his conviction. He could theoretically find 12 jurors to declare him not guilty. But most of the rest of us found him guilty long ago.

Kimbo Gets The One Hitter Quitter

TIME: 10:34 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 1 Response

So an unknown gave internet hype Kimbo Slice his first loss - with one punch. Seth Petruzelli needed only 14 seconds to hand Kimbo Slice his first mixed martial arts loss in the main event of EliteXC "Heat" in Sunrise, Florida. Petruzelli, scheduled to fight Aaron Rosa on the undercard, stepped in when Ken Shamrock was forced to pull out of the main event due a medical suspension.

As soon as the round started Slice went in to overpower Petruzelli, throwing a jab to the body. But Petruzelli pushed off with a front kick and landed a right jab that stunned Slice. Slice fell to his knees and Petruzelli went for the finish, repeatedly landing rights. Slice dropped to his back and was met with more punches until the fight was stopped by the referee.

Looked like Shamrock got out easy. I bet the Petruzelli camp is feeling reaaaal good right about now. Damn, Kimbo lost in less time than it took Usain Bolt to run the 200.

The Changing Of The Guard Hasn't Come

TIME: 2:06 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 0 Responses

Skillz speaks on some real ish. The 2008 Diddy would NOT sign Biggie from back in the day. Plain and simple. New school artists aren't getting ushered into the industry by these older artists right now. Artists like B.O.B., Kid Cudi, Termanology, Chip Tha Ripper, Drake, or Wale had to put in WORK just to get a toe under the door.

We got majors looking for the "next big thing" aka One Hit Wonders. These days A&R's are signing people based off gimmick appeal, image marketability and corny ass MTV shows. Look at what happened with MIMS or Da Band. E. Ness and Babs STILL haven't created a hit! Meanwhile we have the starving lions licking their paws and pacing outside the corporate offices because they can't even get to the front desk. The industry has changed because of over-saturation and a loss of appetite.

The changing of the guard has to happen. These old heads in office now need to let the next Biggie or next Jay get their shine. They don't want to cope with the times and come to the realization that their time is up. Bottom line is someone has to start the advancement for music.

Biden/Palin V.P. Debate

TIME: 9:29 PM | POSTED BY: Andre Alain 1 Response

Sen. Biden was steady throwing out McCain's big numbers while Gov. Palin used her "record" in Hockey Central to relate to the American people. On some instances she refused to defend John McCain while Biden used every opportunity to point out the Republican's expensive bill introductions, calling his health care plan "the ultimate bridge to nowhere". Watch the video here. Both did their jobs reiterating on their higher significants' standpoints while showing their own place in the election. Is it me or did Palin's closing statement sound like it was read from a teleprompter?

I got to give it to the V-Pilf aka "Milf from Nowhere" as Novv likes to call her. Even if she scrambled some answers she looked good as hell tonight.
