The King of Pop has pulled a fast one from the grave. Michael Jackson's estate has secured a $250 million deal with Sony Music. Since his death in June 2009, he's sold over 31 million albums. That's more than your favorite rapper did last year.
So I listened to Jamie Foxx's "Intuition" and I don't think the album is as enjoyable as "Unpredictable". BUT there is one track on there that shines more than the rest and is Jamie at his best. "Freak'in Me" is probably his best track on the whole album. I'm a huge R&B head if you don't know so I think he should've had more tracks like this on the album. Now, my point for this is that at the intro to this song there was a little auto-tuning going on but it doesn't sound like some mediocre T-Pain vocals. The way they used it is how it should be used. Not to make you sound like some high pitched chipmunk like some rappers are using or should I say over-using. What they were doing souded more like the talkbox which if you're from Dayton you know what it is and who used it. Roger Troutman was the pioneer of the talkbox and I hate that rappers are using his mechanics in these garbage songs. Roger made good quality songs and T-Pain should pay homage to the man. I mean the man made "Computer Love", "I Wanna Be Your Man", and was an influence on Dr. Dre, who had acquired him to do "California Love". Babies were conceived to his songs and do you think the same can be said about some of the songs out now? It's already bad enough that Dayton artists aren't looked at as serious as we should be. Here are some classics to show you what I mean.

BUT she is not the one designated to play the role so don't be fooled people. This is just a case of some amateur photoshopping. The actual actress to star as the Amazon is supposedly Australian supermodel, Megan Gale. Choices before were Jessica Biel, Missy Peregrym, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Teresa Palmer, Shannyn Sossamon, and Christina Milian. Still is nice to imagine..
We've all seen the outcome of some corny ass sneaker collabs between rappers and companies but I must say these are OK. Personally I'm a big fan of the Air Jordan I. Maybe I'll think about grabbing a pair of these. But until then I'll stick to my Supras :) And be on the lookout for the "best rapper alive" and his new album in 2009.
This is for my clothing line I'm starting called The Men Of Letters. What you think about this design? These are just the prototypes but drop a comment on which one you like.
SO when did having "swag" get so obnoxious? It seems that in '08 everybody and they mama had swag. Now I will say it's cool to have a sense of style for yourself, BUT don't confuse that and proclaim that your whole life is some fixation. From hypebeasts to myspace celebs alike, people are proclaiming to have this super aura about them. But I beg to differ. Mainly I see it around so much on the internet and just because you dress up and photoshop a few pictures doesn't mean you have swag. In other words: we don't believe you! I don't know who started saying swag first but whoever did, I'm sure didn't want everyone whoring it out to their own extent. On top of that, we have people wearing scarfs now (even in the summer?!) just because a certain celebrity had started the trend and they call that "their swag". Rappers today tend to say overly abuse the word also. I had a conversation with a few of my roommates at school and they had the same opinion versus mine. They said that having swag was all about how you dressed and acted. Well they liked to wear the chains off their pockets, jeans halfway off the ass, and little baby V-neck tees. Oh yea and one of them was in love with his Louis Vuitton scarf. Now, this all stemmed from an addiction to Dwayne Carter lyrics and Jim Jones stylistics. So excuse me if I didn't completely agree. I like to color coordinate and keep it simple. Some may say our lyrics weigh heavy on the term "swag" sometimes BUT you'd have to know what we mean. Novv, Flam, and myself included like to wear Nike SB kicks. I still rock button-downs and jeans regardless if some say the "grown man" era is over. I don't revolve my lifestyle around having swagger. I have no absolute definition for swagger. I can only say it has to do with SOME form of how you dress, but that's not to say that you have to focus on your appearance THAT much. I wouldn't model myself after Kanye's stylings. No need to be...flamboyant or bring too much attention to yourself in certain situations. It would seem that the ghost himself shares my sentiment.

"Che" is a film about the great revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara starring Benicio del Toro as Che. The film is actually a merger of two films: The Argentine and Guerrilla. The first part focuses on the Cuban revolution, from the moment Fidel Castro, Guevara and other revolutionaries landed on the Caribbean island, until they toppled the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista two years later. The second part focuses on Che's attempted revolution and eventual demise in Bolivia.
I find movies like this interesting if they're done the right way. One movie I would love to see as a biopic would be the story of Huey Newton and the Black Panthers. It would just consist of finding the right people to play the parts.
Since I do a lot of graphic designing I digg typography like this. I'm actually trying to get in the process of learning how to do it. Possibly use it for a FLYY video.
