Slumdog Millionaire won 8 Oscars. I've never seen this movie but I think I may check it out to see what all the hype is about. It must be good to win Best Picture.


But the highlight of the night was Heath Ledger posthumously winning the Oscar for best supporting actor for his role as The Joker in “The Dark Night”.

Word is that Dilla's mother is suffering from Lupus, the same disease that claimed her son's life, so Shepard Fairey has created these prints in a collaboration with B+. There will also be a benefit concert to go along.

WHO: Scott Mescudi, 25-year-old Cleveland native who gained cult status and a Kanye co-sign last year with his astronaut anthem “Day N Night”; plans to release debut LP on ‘Ye’s G.O.O.D

HOW: Relocated to New York at the age of 20 carrying a five-song demo. He eventually pushed “Day N night” as a single via DJ A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Label, following with the celebrated mixtape A Kid Name Cudi.

While companies like Circuit City, Cub Foods, and Linen N' Things have already bowed out, it looks like there'll be 15 more companies that probably won't make it out to 2010.

Rite Aid. (Ticker symbol: RAD; about 100,000 employees; 1-year stock-price decline: 92%). This drugstore chain tried to boost its performance by acquiring competitors Brooks and Eckerd in 2007. But there have been some nasty side effects, like a huge debt load that makes it the most leveraged drugstore chain in the U.S., according to Zacks Equity Research. That big retail investment came just as megadiscounter Wal-Mart was starting to sell prescription drugs, and consumers were starting to cut bank on spending. Management has twice lowered its outlook for 2009. Prognosis: Mounting losses, with no turnaround in sight.

Chrysler. (Privately owned; about 55,000 employees). It's never a good sign when management insists the company is not going out of business, which is what CEO Bob Nardelli has been doing lately. Of the three Detroit automakers, Chrysler is the most endangered, with a product portfolio that's overreliant on gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs and almost totally devoid of compelling small cars. A recent deal with Fiat seems dubious, since the Italian automaker doesn't have to pony up any money, and Chrysler desperately needs cash. The company is quickly burning through $4 billion in government bailout money, and with car sales down 40 percent from recent peaks, Chrysler may be the weakling that can't cut it in tough times.

Sbarro. (Privately owned; about 5,500 employees). It's not the pizza that's the problem. Many of this chain's 1,100 storefronts are in malls, which is a double whammy: Traffic is down, since consumers have put away their wallets. Sbarro can't really boost revenue by adding a breakfast or late-night menu, like other chains have done. And competitors like Domino's and Pizza Hut have less debt and stronger cash flow, which could intensify pressure on Sbarro as key debt payments come due in 2009.

Six Flags. (SIX; about 30,000 employees; stock down 84%). This theme-park operator has been losing money for several years, and selling off properties to try to pay down debt and get back into the black. But the ride may end prematurely. Moody's expects cash flow to be negative in 2009, and if consumers aren't spending during the peak summer season, that could imperil the company's ability to pay debts coming due later this year and in 2010.

Blockbuster. (BBI; about 60,000 employees; stock down 57%). The video-rental chain has burned cash while trying to figure out how to maximize fees without alienating customers. Its operating income has started to improve just as consumers are cutting back, even on movies. Video stores in general are under pressure as they compete with cable and Internet operators offering the same titles. A key test of Blockbuster's viability will come when two credit lines expire in August. One possible outcome, according to Valueline, is that investors take the company private and then go public again when market conditions are better.

Sirius Satellite Radio. (SIRI - parent company; about 1,000 employees; stock down 96%). The music rocks, but satellite radio has yet to be profitable, and huge contracts for performers like Howard Stern are looking unsustainable. Sirius is one of two satellite-radio services owned by parent company Sirius XM, which was formed when Sirius and XM merged last year. So far, the merger hasn't generated the savings needed to make the company profitable, and Moody's thinks there's a "high likelihood" that Sirius will fail to repay or refinance its debt in 2009. One outcome could be a takeover, at distressed prices, by other firms active in the satellite business.

How long have you been in the industry and what types of modeling have you done?
About a year and a half. I've pretty much done a lot of print work, a couple events at car dealerships, and features in a few local magazines.

What's outside the modeling world that sparks your interest?
My college education. I'm pursuing a career in law as a paralegal and possibly furthering my career as a lawyer. I value my time with my family, love to shop, of course, and I absolutely love South Beach.

You know some females will go to a few shoots and have their pictures taken and all of a sudden they're "models". What's your take on that?
Well, I don't think you can actually call yourself a model unless you've established something to where people at least know who you are. There are a lot of girls who do that nowadays. I think you really have to have your mind set, stay dedicated, really work, and be acknowledged to call yourself a model. You have to get that positive feedback from people that don't know you to really consider taking your "photoshoots" further. 

What's your definition of a true model?
She's known. You've seen her in the official magazines and the latest videos. You've seen her rip runways and damn near the whole country knows who she is and she's paid.
 
Do you plan on making modeling a career or secondary venture?
If this journey ends up leading me that far into an actual career, but for now I'll have to keep it as a secondary venture because my education comes first. 

Any current projects that we should be on the look out for?
Well, my website should be coming soon. I'll be featured on a couple of websites and magazines as well. If everything works out, you should be seeing me in a few videos by the end of the year. 

Who do you favor musically?
I love Lil' Wayne, Keyshia Cole, and I've been listening to Gucci Mane lately. I have my moods through rap, hip-hop, and R&B. So it just depends on what mood I'm in at the moment. 

One thing we always see in the magazines are questions about what a lady's "type" is. Inquiring minds want to know...
I'm addicted to thugs. At the same time I want a man that has something going for himself. Hard on the outside and soft on the outside, I love a man who actually shows affection. Also, a man that's educated and isn't afraid to let me take control sometimes. On top of that, he still has to have his swagger while taking care of his own.

So if a guy approached you in public how could he get into your comfort zone?
Honestly, I'm quick to shoot a guy down. You have to come better than a common line or telling me how pretty I am to get my attention. You have to do something different. Like if a guy buys me a rose in the club and sends it to me, I'll give him a chance because it's sweet and shows me he has a little romantic side to him.

My mother and the rest of my family. My Aunt Christina, who's like my sister, Jolynn, and my cousins. And two girls who've really held me down all these years: Nathalie and Cherry. Some people may be asking what the hell is Cheyney University? It's the oldest African American college in the country and right now they're receiving a lot of bad press. Recently, a melee was posted onto YouTube that involved unknown students. But, the surprising thing is that it's not the first. AND they have a black student body president named George Bush. Wonder if he presides over the student body as our former commander-in-chief?

The interviewer must be on some other ish because he damn sure didn't listen when the man said he was retired three times. He continues on about the rant he gave at the Comedy Championship and calls Jamie Foxx's staff some "girls".
